Doula, Don’t Wing It!!!!!
Invest in your success with a career-building mini course. The Postpartum Doula Career Roadmap is the missing link between being a great doula and being a successful business owner.
You’re passionate about postpartum doula work… but it’s hard to land clients and run your own business.
You go on interviews but you’re not sure if you’re doing everything you can to maximize your chances of being hired.
You want to make this sustainable and prevent burning out, but you’re not sure you’re setting the appropriate boundaries – or if setting boundaries will impact your chances of being hired in the first place!
Contracting with clients makes you nervous – have you covered all of the “what if’s”?
You’re overwhelmed by how to make sure your clients don’t overlap too much – but don’t want gaps between them that are too big either!
Basically… you know that just because you’re passionate about the work does not mean you’ll be successful at it!
You don’t want to be one of those doulas who burns out and moves on, because your heart is in this work!
And… You know that can’t be expected to be a good doula and a successful business owner overnight. But you want to make sure your investment in doula training doesn’t go to waste.
The thing is, if you get the right support, it’s totally possible.
For almost a decade, I’ve been witnessing postpartum doulas navigate this career path, hearing all of their insecurities, and to be honest.. watching the mistakes they make. I’ve helped them with the core components of building their career such as:
- Improving their interviews – and therefore, their hire rates!
- Understanding how they can stand out and get hired despite having less experience than other doulas
- Setting boundaries now to prevent disappointing families later
- Benefitting from feedback to constantly improve
- Getting clarity about their contract so they feel 100% comfortable explaining – and standing by – their terms
- Taking control of their schedule to maximize earning while preventing burnout

Hey Fellow Doula…
Don’t wing it. Don’t wait for the hard lessons later. Carve out your path now and avoid mistakes that so many make – mistakes that lead to burnout, or unhappy clients, or both.
You might be thinking, if you already invested in a Postpartum Doula training, that that should equip you for what’s ahead. But let’s be honest – most trainings can’t teach you all of the ins and outs of newborn care, infant feeding, postpartum health, parent education, emotional support, etc etc etc… and also fit in an entire course on career planning! Sure it may touch on some of these items, but not possibly as in depth as you need for your success. Plus, our coaching calls give you that built-in extra support to ensure you get whatever aspects of career coaching you feel your training lacked, even if it did some parts of it quite well!
You might be thinking you can’t justify spending more until you make more… but as cliche as it sounds you sometimes do need to spend money in order to make money. Hear me out – if as a result of this course you improve your online presence and interview skills, or get clearer on the terms of your contract… you’ll more than make up this investment by increasing your hire rate, getting more solid commitments from your clients… even avoiding situations where you might need to issue a refund. Think about it – just one shift with a family pays for this course (!) which will benefit you for years to come!
I’m Kathryn Keener, the owner of One Moon Doula and Doula Business Pathways.
I worked as a postpartum doula for a few years, and then saw the need to open an agency to help connect doulas and families in my area. I started with a team of 4-5 doulas… which has grown to a network of close to 30 doulas in two counties in Southern California. I’ve served many hundreds of families and contributed to the professional growth and development of a growing network of doulas for close to ten years. I’ve provided 1:1 coaching to doulas as they grappled with how to make this career path work for their particular needs. I’ve also offered workshops and continuing education, and I find that to be one of the most rewarding parts of owning an agency – supporting doulas, and helping them find success, not just with agency clients but with their own private practice as well.
That said, I’ve also seen quite a few doulas over the years who were unable to make it work – and I’ve seen the pitfalls and the reasons why. I want to help you avoid those pitfalls, and stand strong in knowing that this is the work for you, and that you are the doula for your clients!
Before becoming a doula, I was a mediator for 15 years. This, combined with the business expertise that informs the success of my agency, puts me in a unique position to offer top-notch professional development and career guidance to doulas and NCS’s from all over. I currently live in Encinitas, CA with my husband, our two boys, and our dog Luna.

Frequently Asked Questions
Still not sure? Take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions to see if that helps you get some clarity!
I’ve already been a doula for a few years but a lot of this looks like it could help me. Does it make sense for me to join?
Absolutely. Things like improving interview skills, setting boundaries, and fine tuning contracts… are things doulas can always benefit from, even many years into their career.
I haven’t trained as a doula, does it make sense for me to join?
I’d say if you are certain that you will be taking your training… then yes! Taking it before you’ve trained, as long as you know you’ll be training to become a doula, is also great!
I’m a newborn care specialist, does it make sense for me to join?
Totally. Our roles are so similar. Contract terms might at times be slightly different but interview skills, setting boundaries, preventing burnout, and scheduling strategies apply to all of us! Plus, many doula agencies hire NCS’s as well, so the bonus content may come in handy too!
If I can’t make the coaching calls are they recorded?
Yes! And often you’ll learn as much from someone else’s question as one you would have asked yourself.
Is the access to the course recordings limited?
Nope, you get those for life!
What if I have questions after the recording/s?
